IAS Coaching Sriram’s IAS Fined with 3 lakh rupees by CCPA for misleading ads know details

CCPA Imposed Fine On IAS Coaching: CCPA has imposed a fine on IAS coaching institute for giving false and misleading advertisements. This fine has been imposed on Shriram IAS Coaching Centre and for this the coaching institute will have to pay a fine of Rs 3 lakh. The Central Consumer Protection Authority has imposed a penalty on this coaching institute which helps candidates prepare for civil services. CCPA says that they have made exaggerated claims in their advertisements which are misleading and are deceiving the candidates.

what is written in the advertisement

Let’s know what Shriram IAS Coaching wrote in its advertisement that CCPA had to take strict action. There are two things written in their ad, first – ‘200 plus selections in UPSC Civil Service Exam 2022’, second – ‘We are India’s number 1 reputed UPSC/IAS coaching institute’.

CCPA says that the institute has violated the Consumer Protection Act 2019. CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare, who is also the Secretary of Union Consumer Affairs, and Commissioner Anupam Mishra have imposed a penalty on the coaching institute.

Guidelines have been issued

Let us tell you that in January, CCPA has issued guidelines for commercial coaching institutes. Some rules have been mentioned in it, which everyone has to keep in mind. This institute has not followed the rules given in the guidelines.

Under these guidelines, institutes cannot make guaranteed claims like assured selection in prelims, guaranteed rank, guaranteed score, etc. Overall, the institute cannot make any claim that is not guaranteed.

The number of civil service candidates is increasing

After engineering and medical, now the number of candidates is increasing in the field of civil services as well. Every year a large number of candidates join coaching institutes to succeed in IAS or other civil service examinations. Here the success rate is very low and the competition is tough. In such a situation, coaching institutes keep releasing various types of advertisements to attract students.

Fees are in lakhs

Their fees are in lakhs and there is no guarantee of selection. No institute can give this guarantee because the number of candidates appearing for the exam is much higher than the number of seats. Despite being aware of this fact, coaching institutes mislead the candidates by showing false advertisements and hide the things that they should tell and tell only those facts that can attract them to take admission.
